Full Version: I need a challenge

I'm looking to increase my skills. I have been qing for 13 years and am ready to step up to competition bbq. I feel like I am qualified to become a member of a team and am looking forward to the competitive experience.
This desire came to mind this week while I barbequed 120lbs of pulled pork for my church picnic.
My neighbors love my BBQ. I love to feed my neighbors my BBQ.

Well the burner doesn't seem to be the problem, I changed the regulator, cleaned the burner and tried a few other bottles to see if I had bad propane and had no results.AS

I'm thinking its the temperature valve. Other smokers have valve repare kits but I can't find one for the Great outdoors Smoky Mountain series. I don't know what to do from here.

I was way too far into my Barbequing to stop so my solution to get my pulled pork finished was to put it unto my oven to finish cooking it. So I smoked the meat for 20 hours at 160-170 and then finished in the oven at 240* until the interior temp reached 185.
It turned out excellent but I am very embarrased to have to finnish in an oven.

Tuff, If you are going to be at the comp in Salt lake this weekend, bring it by and I will see if we can get it going again. I will bring some parts.

I'm going to try to come to the Wild West.
I've got The church picnic that I'm finishing my pulled pork for on Saturday, and I've got family coming to town for the Sat. and Sun. airshow at Hill Field. But Me and my friend Cory are going to try to get to the Wild West if only for a few hours.
