Always wanted to be able to make dinner rolls - T - 07-01-2009 04:02 PM
It was a lost art with my family for years until today now I can share it with the family starting with my daughter in law. I made today if not the same but better rolls than I have ever had. Matt came by this morning just as they were rising. For those of you that have been wanting to jump out there and try it man no matter what method you use it's the end product that counts. Matt and I spoke today about getting some of us together for a meat and dessert session. I am having big fun cooking in the pots. below is documentation of my entire cook.
Rolled and ready to go.
I would say these cats are ready after an hour.
This is after about 25 minuets baking time
Lets get a good look
After a little butter brushed on and the color pow!
The bottom was perfect, thanks again Matt for the tips.
Ready to get busy!
The texture was there, and the old fashioned flavor man, oh man.
Again you guys broaden your horizons and jump out there, get a couple of pots and join us in the fun.
Thanks again Matt for shortening my learning curve in dutch oven baking, and bread making also helping me to bring this fresh bread taste back into my family. I used just a dinner role recipe there are a lot of them out there. I'm excited! Instead of just passing out cutting boards at comps I fell now that I can't really represent my sponsors that I appreciate.

Those look tremendous! Of course I was there to see them rising but it sure is fun to see the final product! I have to give you props man! I have known people who have tried for years unsuccessfuly to make rolls like that. For you to do it after one afternoon of instruction......Well you either got it or you don't and you got it man! Thanks for giving me props too. Cooking in the black pots is my biggest passion in life and I love sharing my knowledge with anyone who has a desire to learn.

Great looking rolls.
Now slap some butter and some fresh made raspberry jam on a couple of those, baby, that's dessert in my book.

Re: Always wanted to be able to make dinner rolls - T - 07-02-2009 11:47 AM
Yo Jay, you use this one it has a step by step video instruction, but the basic yeast roll recipe is the same. Heat control bro, and let the pot do it's thing. Go get em Jay. Found this while looking around after the fact. I was fortunate to have Matt show Brian and I hands on about needing dough and water temps, mixtures ect. This doggy will hunt too. http://www.news9.com/global/story.asp?s=10314009 Good luck bro!
