CBJ Classes - SoEzzy - 06-26-2011 01:10 PM

We held a CBJ class at the beginning of June, and certified another 18 judges.

There will not be another class unless we get a lot of interest.

The two contests that are possible for classes are the Fire, Water and Ice, and the Rock n' Ribs.

If people are interested in another CBJ class this year, please add your names to this thread or email me, SoEzzy.

I'd be interested if you offer another class

RE: CBJ Classes - crashpilot - 07-12-2011 07:56 AM

The same 2 guys that bailed out on the June class both say they're still very interested in becoming a CBJ. I know that is a double negative, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

It doesn't look like we are set for a second class this year, but I'll bring it up again tonight at the Managing Members meeting.

RE: CBJ Classes - tipsforBBQ - 07-12-2011 06:54 PM

How many more do we need?

RE: CBJ Classes - tipsforBBQ - 07-13-2011 08:46 PM

Bump. How many more do we need to sign up?

RE: CBJ Classes - SoEzzy - 07-13-2011 10:10 PM

Another 24 or 25 would need to commit, and we would then have to plead with the KCBS Instructor to come in early, and we would need a cooker capable of cooking all the meats for the class, and do it, the day before taking part in a contest.

Part of the difficulties are getting 1) the instructor, 2) the cook, 3) the volunteers to prep the turn in boxes, and do the table captains jobs, it is a full long days work for the cook, and a hard 3 - 4 hours work for the evening for the other volunteers... all taking place the day before you compete for money in an event that could cost you $500 - $750 to enter.

So get your names on this thread and we will see what happens!

Im interested in a class. Letme know if there will be a local class.

RE: CBJ Classes - SoEzzy - 08-15-2011 09:11 AM

The next local class will probably be next year, hopefully in the spring!

RE: CBJ Classes - Going for Thirds - 09-27-2011 03:12 AM

My wife and I would be interested in a class. How much is the actual class? You do have to participate in an event after the class? Thanks.

Also, I know that a friend and his wife would also be interested.

What are the credentials criteria for being able to teach a class?
All I've ever seen teach this class is Gene or Ed. Do you have to be a KCBS rep?

Thanks, it could work with other contests, but we still need to get the numbers, if Heber is on next year, that could be another easily workable date June.

RE: CBJ Classes - Member closed account! - 10-04-2011 08:28 PM

Would like to attend, what day of the week and what time are the classes. My work schedule may not allow me to.

RE: CBJ Classes - SoEzzy - 10-04-2011 08:35 PM

Normally nationally CBJ classes take place on a Thursday ahead of a Friday / Saturday KCBS contest.

Locally we try and have them on Wednesdays, because it is really hard for a team to cook for the class, then go straight into the contest the next day, you end up at a big disadvantage being exhausted before you start the two day contest.

RE: CBJ Classes - Razcals Ribs - 10-04-2011 08:36 PM

My wife @ I would like to go .

RE: CBJ Classes - Curtis Nations - 10-05-2011 05:22 AM

If this is after or in June I would be interested, before then I am stuck with my nose in the books!

RE: CBJ Classes - SoEzzy - 10-05-2011 09:22 PM

Not sure exactly when it will be yet!

We'll have a better idea once the calendar is worked out.
