We're Looking for the Best Barbecue Team in the USA - November 1-2, 2013

The world's best grillers will be in Laughlin, Nevada at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort on October 31 - November 2, 2013 for the Fifth Annual $100,000 USA Barbecue Championship presented by Findlay Motor Company.

Considered the largest contest in the state with a guaranteed purse of $100,000 in cash and prizes, the USA Grand Champion will win a fully loaded, 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Twin Cab Pick Up Truck valued at over $50,000, which includes all fees and taxes paid. We're also spreading the love by paying top 10 overall and through 20 places in all four categories.

To make sure this event includes the best pitmasters in the world, each Team of the Year from the biggest barbecue associations in the USA including the KCBS, Mid Atlantic, Great Lakes, Utah, New England, Rocky Mountain, Intermountain, Florida, California and Pacific Northwest, have been invited to represent their region.

The USA Barbecue Championship presented by Findlay Motor Company is held at the Riverside Resort surrounded by the beautiful mountains and nestled on the Colorado River.

$50,000 cash, 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Pick Up Truck, 100% certified judges and great amenities that are second to none. To be the best you have to beat the best. Does your team belong?

Our site is down for most of the day. We were told it would be up by this afternoon but it's one of those things that could be 2 or 7 hours. If you'll try again tomorrow, it will be available. In the meantime, please visit our Facebook Page Smoke on the Water Productions!

The dates could hardly work better for serious competitors and for judging opportunities. The World Food Championships are in Las Vegas Nov. 7 - 10. I'm already accepted to judge the USA contest and have applied for a seat at the WFC. Gee, a week in Vegas with the best pitmasters in the country and the best cooks in the world. Hope I can fit behind the steering wheel to get back home!

Yes, you can walk around among the competitors, many of whom will be willing to talk with you on Friday and early Saturday (don't expect any trade secrets!). Just observe later Saturday morning as they are in the final stages of getting their turn-ins just right and submitting them; this is not the time to distract them. Your only expenses should be your travel.

I suggest taking a BBQ judging class so that you will know the criteria by which the meats will be judged. Utah BBQ should be having one soon, keep an eye on this forum. To see when and where the Kansas City BBQ Society has theirs, check out KCBS.US.
