Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Guest - 10-20-2009 11:03 PM

I've had quite a few requests for the recipe for the chicken drumsticks I made for the Jack fundraiser last weekend. Rather than continue to e-mail it out, I thought I'd just make it a blog post. So, here it is.

I kinda like them chicken on a cob things too. Back when, T showed us all some gadget he'd found at Lowes?
maybe H.D.
It holds a dozen by the joint upside down. Slick device.

Gene....is that the one that just holds the legs or the wings....I didn't see what T showed......and do you think they are any good????

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - T - 10-21-2009 02:23 PM

Yo, here is the post that Gene mentioned. The thighs were nice and juicy and the skin was crispy on my BDS.

Thanks T.....the ones I saw weren't that large and the metal was much thinner....seem the recession has hit everything....But I will keep an eye out for the thicker type....those racks....like the beer can rack......seem to hold out alot better then the thin made ones.....

Good job as always, John.

I only brought one over, I own 3, what can ya do with only a dozen drummies, other than eat 'em. Guess I can lay the others out flat and turn them, argh, what a _______________. You fill in the blank. Sampson, be nice now.
Hmmmm, maybe no smoking drummies this week-end after all, the weather dudes are saying "tons of rain" again. What does a ton of rain look like :?:

That brings a picture to mind. Not a pretty one tho. Teton Dam break, not good.

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Gene - 10-22-2009 05:35 PM

Sampson, you sent a Dear John letter, cold, just cold. Sad How many others have you left in your wake?

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Cyclops - 10-22-2009 10:01 PM

 While all you "jamokes" are talking about how good those drums looked, I can attest to how they "Tasted"! They were excellent! Great moisture while being cooked to perfection! Just a nice little heat on the finish. Eat your heart out Sampson! (My mouth is starting to water as I am typing!) NO KIDDING!!

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Guest - 10-22-2009 10:54 PM

Thanks for all the kind words, guys.

John

I'm cooking these tonight to serve to my guests coming to watch the Angels destroy the Yankees tonight.
I'm very excited. We've got 48 drummies rubbed and in the fridge ready to be grilled. Thanks for the recipe. Big Grin

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Gene - 10-24-2009 01:28 PM

Hopefully that will be the case. Big Grin Looks like a rain out tho. Sad

- Tuff - 10-25-2009 10:42 AM

The rain out was bad.....especially when you have a house full of fans but the chicken was good.
We had fun however watching BYU get destroyed instead.

Re: Classic Yardbird Drumsticks - Gene - 10-25-2009 08:44 PM

Yes they did! Ouch!
