Joe, seriously, come on dude. I can only speak for myself, but I can't even shine the grates of a heavy-hitter. It's going to be a great low-key event.

I would agree with you Joe about those "heavy Hitters" and this being a low key cook.............

Packer, Daddio, and that unidentifed team from Utah, this is going to be a rough Win for someone..........................

Yo, for those of you teams that are still thinking of going up to the Village of the Tress RV competition the dead line for entry has been extended for the rest of the week. I looked at the web site and it really looks like a relaxing cool place. Spoke with Dan AKA Flexo earlier today and he said that his team would have liked to come, but they have catering engagement. His still might fly up to Burley in a small plan just to be with the cats for awhile. Cool huh? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.villageoftreesrvresort.com/">http://www.villageoftreesrvresort.com/</a><!-- m -->.

Not to be pushy, but this would be an ideal comp for your first solo. It's small and low-key, with no real heavy hitters.

"with no heavy hitters"?? Right!! I would watch out for Packer and Patio.

Now there's an over statement! Heavy hitters  Joe.... we are just a figment of your wacked out imagination Tongue Heavy Hitters???  now thats funny right there!

Dave

You are all funny. I've seen what John does on his website plus the Frostbite and the Cornish Game hens from Snowbird...

And you Dave, hmmm, you'd both be hard to beat.

Then, you have Skinny Boys coming up as a FULL team again, with their Traeger...

To top it off you have T, heck my ribs wouldn't stand a chance against five of the teams there, my brisket... I've cooked ONE, I need a lot more practice in that department, thighs are getting there, the only place I feel confident is pork!

I've got my cookers, charcoal and wood. But all the other items needed I don't have. I would love to cook this one for fun, practice, comraderie, cash, bragging rights, etc, etc, etc... But I have a couple of personal things I need to take care of. I'll see you all at Rock n Ribs, as long as "This Little Piggy..." is still planning on cooking there.

Besides, I promised Becci and one of the other ladies from Snowbird, sorry I forgot your name Sad, that I'd bring my cole slaw for the pot luck.

After that, i'm going to crawl in a hole or bottle for awhile!

I'll be around to TC and / or judge.

Not sure how much time I'll have as to coming up early and hanging out, so that I don't fraternize with teams on the judging day, maybe Friday early or possibly Thursday late?

Re: Idaho Competition Village of Trees RV Resort BBQ Cookoff
Ok Folks! I just spoke with Omar, and he just received this info from Colleen, We have 14 teams signed up, with one or two on the fence! The big news is she said she has sent in the paper work for the Governor's proclamation, making this a Idaho State Championship, and thus a qualifier for the Jack Daniels and American Royal!!!!!! She's been told it will be in her hand on Monday or Tues

So, lets pull this together, and make it happen! Who will be the 15th team!!!!!!

I'm looking at the possibilities of cooking this one, it may take to Monday or Tuesday for a decision, but if you also need me to judge and TC, I'll be happy to wear all three hats! <chortle>

Re: Idaho Competition Village of Trees RV Resort BBQ Cookoff
A couple of questions that maybe someone can answer or maybe Colleen is lurking and can answer.

1. Is the cooking site really only going to be 10x10?
2. Is the People's choice going to be pulled pork? How much extra do we need to cook for this (I have never done this before)?
3. Will there be electricity?
4. Is the meat inspection really after the cooks meeting at 6pm on Friday night?

This is all for now. Looking forward to heading up there and having fun. See ya'll on Friday.

Re: Idaho Competition Village of Trees RV Resort BBQ Cookoff
Hey Brian!!
The sites are 20 ft wide x40 ft deep (Yes Jay they are  )
Peoples choice is pulled pork, there isn't any set amount req. We are using what is leftover from our comp. meats. Now if you only cook one butt, you may want to cook more. I will suggest that teams distribute a 1 oz sample, ( cups provided) and not let them serv. themselves. I have also suggested to Colleen that PC starts at 2pm, ends at 3pm. I also have never done PC, but this being a first yr comp. we want to show the public what great BBQ is all about. More info at cooks meeting

I have been told power is available to every cooking site, max distance is 150 ft you need to bring your own cords ( Gene... you are 450' from power, so good luck) Tongue

Meat inspection will be at 3pm, or as teams arrive after it will be at YOUR request! so make sure if you roll in later that 3pm, you get your inspection done. ( cold holding temps below 41*)
