Re: 2009 Grill on the Hill
Thanks, I am receiving both teams and judges entries already, that is great. The 3 teams that wanted to vend need to also contact me for the additional forms they need to send in for vending.

Thanks, Arlie

Arlie, by vending, do you mean checking the box for sampling to the public?

Is general public invited?
Sorry but new to the site and forum - just wondering if general public is welcome to this event? Are we allowed to come and view the setups and is there a 'tasting' available? Is there a cost for visitors?

The teams will be setting up Friday morning thru the afternoon. Most will start cooking Friday evening sometime. Saturday is when the flurry begins. Judging starts at 12 noon that's when it gets fun!!! The public is welcome to chat with teams, but starting around 11 am, teams may not be able to chat because they are getting ready for judging. This is pretty typical for any event.

That sure was good stuff!

btippets, if you are wanting to 'taste' the que, you could always take a CBJ Class. 8) Then you would be a Certified BBQ Judge and could help judge these events and get to taste all the wonderful AWESOME Que these folks turn out. Big Grin

Re: 2009 Grill on the Hill
Someone mentioned that the teams might not be able to chat much during the setup but are most teams usually open to having someone watch how they do things as long as they stay out of the way?

Bill - I'd venture to say that just about any UBBQA team would be willing to have you as a guest. Some teams get pretty protective of their "secrets", but I'm not one of them. I plan to be there, so feel free to swing by early and often. The only real taboo time frame is from about 1100 until 1330 on day two, as things get really hot and heavy during turn-ins. The best overall time to hang out is the evening and early night of the first day.

Re: 2009 Grill on the Hill
I looked for awhile to find details for spectators but came up short. Does anyone know how much, if any, it costs for spectators?

Patio - I may have to take you up on hanging out for awhile so I can learn some of the basics (keeping temp, what temp, etc). Thanks for the offer.

Spectators turn up, no charge, or at least there wasn't a charge last year for them, not even a car parking fee, I hope I didn't just give them an idea there!

Respice, adspice, prospice. Latin proverb.
Respice = you didn't use enough spice the first time! adspice = you ought to add spice, you know? prospice = you should be an advocate for spice!
