By the way, Congrats Vince and Jay, I am sure that both of you will and your bosses will do the West Proud.............good luck at the Jack..... make sure you buy the fried pies early and that you immediately make reservations at Ms. Mary Bobo's...... 931-759-7394.......... pretty bad when you have a restaurant 2000 miles plus from home in your cell phone..... have a great time, maybe I will go and see you guys there....

Re: jack draw
Thanks Gene, I stuffed myself on fried pies last year....yummmm.

I hope they do take care of those Bama cookers. Just seems like the fair thing to do to me also.

Hope to see ya there Gene....but I'll probably see at Viejas first. Smile

Re: jack draw
Congrats Jay and Monica. Way to go VQ and Diva.
Wow checking out Viejas brings me back to my childhood in Lake Morena, used to go to Alpine for groceries. They had a pizza place and a video game Big Grin (Space Invaders). Lake Morena had no gas station, stoplight, etc. but we had a malt/bait shop that made the best salsa in the world and hosted a free fish fry on Fridays for the whole town. I used to make a descent living for a ten year old diving for lost lures an collecting diamondbacks for their skins.(Some biker neighbor gave me and my friend Lucky $5-10 bucks depending on the size) 8) . Sounds like another contest I need to put on the wishlist.

Norm, it is a great contest, I competed in it, it is about 50 miles from my home, Arlie Bragg was on my team for that event, we didn't even look at our meat until 2:30 am lit the cooker off, we were at the casino prior to that, we still won Grand CHampion there... what a great event.....lots of restaurants, stores gambling bands whatever you want, it is there.... maybe you will make it there.... Lake Marina, caught a lot of catfish there when I was young.....love it.........

Re: jack draw
I have been away a week or so and for the teams in Snowbird I dont know what to say. I work hard in organizing contests in trying to make them qualifiers and many teams do know the rules. I have had contest not make the draw because all 25 teams didnt cook all categories. I guess they can change the rules but did hear they were a few deals cut and we all see that now. This discredits the Jack. There are many questions still to be answered so I guess along with all the other organizers and teams we will see how it all plays out. You know I try to run a honest contest, hope that all judges are honest with judging the meats and that all teams do the same. That is all we can ask for but I dont like it when a World Contest does as they please and change the rules after a contest. Does any one even know what rules we are playing by in 2009 at this point. We are going into week 2 of the upcoming season. What are the Jack rules????

Thanks for supporing Snowbird and see you all there again in 09.

Re: jack draw
Thanks for your support, deals were cut!!!! First hand knowledge of some of it. I guess though the real question is would you want to cook a contest that you really didnt qualify for??? I know I could not do that! But that is just me, I would want to cook in it and win by being honest!

Re: jack draw
From what I have been told, by some people this could have been changed. There was a misinterpitation of a rule, and the NEW people at the JACK could have made this right. Now this is MHO from info I have, Trigg should not have been in the Alabama draw, but an auto for the Snowbird comp in Utah, Rock'n Ribs in Utah wasn't a qualifier. Like another person posted, if I were in the Alabama draw I would be pissed cause Trigg won that draw and never should have been in it
