Re: Eagle Rib Cook Off and SpudFest
The venue will open at 7:00 AM each day for move-in to be completed by 9:30 AM.
There is a discrepancy betwen the Bullsheet and the web site with regard to the payouts. The correct figure is $10,000.00 in cash and prizes!

Jim - I presume we don't need to be there Saturday, correct? I plan to load-in Sunday morning. Will meat/site inspections be ongoing on an as-needed basis?

Thanks,
John

There is no judging class scheduled this year in Idaho. Hopefully, next year.

Who is coordinating Judges? I want to throw my hat into the ring (CBJ# 7769)

I also have a couple of BBQ aficionados that would like to judge, but have not been officially trained per KCBS rules. If there is no class, is there a concern that the participants will outnumber the judges?

Re: Montana Comp
Special thanks to T and Galo for representing Utah and the association up in MONTANA...even though it is over the moujntains and thru the woods. T saved my braggin rights by placing 1st in Ribs.. he is the utah king of ribs. Next year we need southwestern Idaho to get up here...we had northern and eastern Idao reps...but no BOISE. See you soon at Wyoming and Rock-n-ribs...again thanks to the association for there support of the NORTHERN cousins..MONTANA

I have heard that some teams think we are full for Eagle. Not true! WE HAVE 18 teams so far. If you plan on attending but have yet to register, please contact Teresa Sorenson (address in first post of this thread) and she will be glad to save you a spot.

Re: Eagle Rib Cook Off and SpudFest
My paperwork went off in the mail yesterday... I am having to "squeeze" to get this event worked in to my personal/work schedules (where it says "personal", read that as "my kids' schedules!!" )... But if I don't, I won't get the chance to participate in any other comps this season unfortunately...

See you in Boise in a few weeks!

Yo, Dave [Packer Backer BBQ ]won the Idaho State Championship in 2006 and went to the Jack in 2006 and is always representing Idaho in and out of the state. as well as in and out of the winners circle, just taking RG at Fire Water & Ice for the second year in a row representing Idaho. Not to stir it up, but I feel that a guy IMO should be recognised for his dedication and promotion of BBQ, props to Dave.

Have they taken notice of anything going on since 2003?

Oh well, I'm sure there will be a good turn out of teams from far and wide, and there will be an invite for someone out of it won't there?

They should have included Dave from Packerbacker BBQ Team. That guy can cook! He is a great guy as well. When I think of teams in Idaho, his name is always at the top! He made it to the Jack Daniels which is not an easy feat. If you want to set your sites on an Idaho competitor look no further than PackerBacker BBQ Team. Keep on cookin Dave!!!

That sure was good stuff!

"Papa Joe", I like that. I win the Mini Jim contest and you pick up a great name like Joe. Thanks Jim.
By the way Jim, Sturgis wasn't all that bad. I hope it's because the ridership was down about 50%. Otherwise it might mean that I'm used to seeing that kind of depravity.

I don't know where it came from, (never asked) but my kids have called me that for years. We can listen to the TV and read all the financial analysts in the world, but if we really want to have our finger on the country's economic pulse, all we have to do is count how many bikers there are at Sturgis. If you made it through still married and not in jail, it was a success! Welcome back.

Just so you all know. The Rib Shack will not be hosting a rib eating contest at this event. He decided he doesn't have enough time to pull it off.

Teresa,
What will be the turn-in day and time for the spud dish? And what is the payout for it?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, how are the potato dishes to be prepared, presented, and what are the rules regarding garnish, etc.?

An overall time line would be great. I presume that the four KCBS turn-ins follow the standard schedule (noon-1:30), correct?

Thanks,
John
