Emergency Number Notification Procedure for contests
Emergency Number Notification Procedure
Beginning June 1, the KCBS board due to prior experiences regarding the enforcement of quiet hours and security has mandated that all Head Cooks upon arrival at a contest receive in writing the following information:
Emergency Telephone Number for Organizer
Emergency Telephone Number for Reps
Emergency Telephone number for Security
KCBS takes the issue of quiet hours and security very seriously. While it is primarily the responsibility of each team to police themselves and their guest, the Organizer and the Reps must ensure the enforcement and public safety of participants.
Each Organizer is charged with having security in place during the event. The Security should have instructions as to what is expected from them, in enforcing quiet hours and public peace. The organizer should determine what action is to be taken toward these objectives.
Each Rep must be certain that the Organizer and Security understand the quiet hours and public peace requirements. No contest should be held without proper security, especially during the night. We do not expect our Reps to become the police. We do expect they will have discussed this matter in advance with Organizers and Security and if a problem, report the same to KCBS in advance of the contest. Should an emergency call come to the Rep, based upon the nature of the call, a consideration of calling 911 should be an option, prior to any Rep taking action, which can include removal of a team, if warranted.
If there is an incident the Reps are to report the incidents as soon as possible to the Contest Rep Chairperson or if not available to a member of the Board. A written report should be submitted thereafter with names, address, phone numbers of those involved and a narrative report.
Reps may use for an Emergency Contact number their phone or cell phone, the hotel number where they are staying or even use a "go phone" for this purpose.
Remember, our priority is a safe and well run contest. Each of us must do what it take to make this happen.
