Free step by step instructions. This guy is using fir, but the same concept applies to hardwood charcoal.

Pssssssst where's the link, norm?

Respice, adspice, prospice. Latin proverb.
Respice = you didn't use enough spice the first time! adspice = you ought to add spice, you know? prospice = you should be an advocate for spice!

Re: Make your own charcoal for pennies a day.
I wonder if it's like char cloth for us buckskinners. Just put cotton cloth in a near air tight container, just one small hole in the lid, and put it in a fire. (gas grills work well for this) Then when it's through smoldering you have char cloth. Ready for the next Rendezvous for starting fire with flint and steel. It'd be time consuming with wood I'm afraid. Sad Sorry Norm, just trying to be funny.

That is so funny, I am still laughing as I remember those pictures of your beef ribs, they weren't just burnt they were cremated...
The best part of the story was that a week or so later you won at the comp - 1st place beef ribs. What a turn around... The Jazz do have hope tonight Smile
