QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
With regard to the QN4U class that was scheduled for April 19-20, due
to some miscommunication and some important things going on with
Brent, the class has to be postponed.

Brent and his wife opened a new restaurant this month in their
hometown of Clovis, CA, and have been very wrapped up in the process.
Also, I was under the assumption that everything was on track for the
class - I set the date with Brent over the phone, sent him all the
questions that we had, grabbed all the information for the class that
he had posted on the CBBQA site...I thought we were all set.
Typically, with any other class we have set up (CBJ, so far...) that
was all that was needed. I sent in the final numbers for the class
several days before the class takes place, the instructor arrives,
payment is taken care of after the class, etc.

Apparently, this is not the way Brent sets up his classes. I'm being
honest when I say that Brent did not communicate to me that anything
else was required before he gives the class. This was not told to me
during the numerous phone conversations and emails between the two of
us, nor was it noted in any of the posted information. Had I known
there was a question to be asked, I would have done so but I received
no indication that anything further was required. Typically, if
someone is wanting something from you, they let you know.

Both Bret and I both apologize to you, The Utah BBQ Association, and
are currently working to reschedule the class as he very much wants to
come out and do this.

We currently do not have a date set. He and I tossed around a couple
dates over the phone yesterday, but Hyrum and Boulder City conflict
with his known earliest available dates.

Those of you who have already paid for the class, please contact me
directly to let me know if you require a refund, or if you still wish
to prepay for the class.

Again, please accept our apologies. Hopefully the new date, when set,
will not conflict with something you already have going on, and even
more people will be able to sign up.

In humility,

-joe

There is a silver lining to this whole thing, that being that now there is a chance that I can be there... This Saturday was totally out for me.

Re: QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
Yo, Carla and myself realize that there are some young cooks that might be interested in learning about chicken and rib preperation for competition. We are both willing to show you a little about preperation, trimming and seasoning. She will handle the chicken, and I will do the ribs. We don't have all day, so we will do the short cook, maybe in the future the long cook. We need to know if anyone is interested, and it will be held in the back of my restaurant on saturday morning at 11:00 am. If we pull this off, just bring your chair.

Re: QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
I will be there . I can't think of anything better to do with a Saturday than learning a little more about Q. I spoke with T just a little while ago. He said that Gallo would also e there. He also mentioned that this is going to be free.

Folks, the more I look at the message I sent out and posted, the more awful I feel. It is a very one-sided message, and it wasn't intended to be. I wanted to give you all a full explanation rather than just write it off as a "miscommunication" or "lack of communication".

In all fairness, Brent was expecting more communication from me. Being that I had all my questions (your questions that were sent to me) answered, I thought nothing more of it. I never thought to firm things up any further. The failure of this class to happen is due to my own lack of diligence and assumptions.

The original message was not intended to point the finger at Brent. It really was not, and I can't stress that enough.

All men make mistakes, only a few of the good ones fess up to them. I for one admire you for doing so. I think that after all you have done for this association, this should be easy for everyone "let slide".

Maybe so. Not me, though. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

Re: QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
We've all been there, Joe. It's cool. We'll move forward and I, for one, am looking forward to learning a few things from T on Saturday! And now that the $250 is free'd up, I can buy a few things that I've been eyeing (like canopy walls and pellets for my poopers). Tongue

Dude, I'm all over it as well! Where is your Boise location again? I can't find it on Google. Also, what time should I be there?  Smile

Enjoy,

Re: QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
Yo guys, I guess there has been enough interest generated, so its a go. We will start with the ribs first because they will take longer to cook than the chicken. Don't forget to bring your chairs, and we will start at eleven. Thanks again guys and it will be a pleasure to mentor you and answer your questions. No Sampson, I will not be showing how to make my Steak and Chop seasoning.

Re: QN4U Class - IMPORTANT UPDATE
Just want to thank T for offering up his place for this mentoring and cooking session today. Was great to meet all those we didnt' know, and see old friends again. Got our first sunburns of the year, and some much appreciated tips and tastes of T's ribs.

We love this association and its members and are so proud to be part of it. See y'all next weekend at the M&G!!!

I want to thank T, Carla and Michelle for giving their time and knowledge to help those who wanted to learn from them. I was unable to stay for the whole class as well due to work obligations. Carla, I agree it was nice to see the "family" again.

Yo, I really enjoyed seeing all of you at the class old and new. Met some new people, and great to see the rest of the family again. I was really satisfied after seeing GBQ demonstrate to all what I had mentored him on awhile ago and, Gallo come up and perform the same thing to perfection. Good luck to all in the coming season.
