Qualifier for the Jack
T gave me a call yesterday and asked how many participants were coming to Hyrum, 22 now, he then suggested I write Governor Huntman a request letter to declare that event a qualifier fro the Jack in October. I don't think anyone will be interested, just kidding, I'll shoot one off tonight.
I tell ya, T is on top of it all, isn't he? Thanks sir.

Re: Qualifier for the Jack
Hey Gene, Try calling the Governors office, I dont think a personal letter will work, I think there is a " Request for Proclamation" form that needs to be filled out, maybe going online to print it. I have a call into Cyclops, as he knows more than I about it, maybe he will chime in here

Re: Qualifier for the Jack
Yo Gene, Hyrum as a second year cook as Fire Water and Ice will have to have 25 teams to be eligible. Lets talk about this as a group at the meeting on Saturday. I don't know the ruling on how many that you can have? We have Hyrum, Snowbird [sanctioned], Provo, Fire Water and Ice, Rockin Ribs [sanctioned], Park City?

keep it low-n-slow " T "

Re: Qualifier for the Jack
Kansas City and it's states have at least 30 state championships a year. It's a matter of how many your Governor will sign off on. We have a problem with our Governor granting state championships for our contests, finally getting contests going in Arizona and she won't sign off on them! Sucks

Re: Qualifier for the Jack
Jay's right guys. It depends on if you have a buddy with the Governor's ear. When you make the request, you need to stress what the contest will do for Utah. The community good will, the benefit of a charity, the promotion of BBQ as a "uniquely American cuisine" The numbers of visitors it will bring to the state of Utah, Blaa, Blaa Blaa. If you need any help with the wording, let me know.
