Thanks Packerbacker. My wife, 5yr old boy and I will see most of you up the Hill. We'll come out and visit, try and get some pointers etc... 'and get hooked!' Smile

 Forgot to ask. Is there a fee involved for those not cooking or judging? i.e. parking, samples, etc...

Re: Grill on the Hill BBQ Championship -Scottie needs help
A mutual friend of Scottie contacted me this afternoon from Kansas. Scottie would like to participate in this weekend's contest but needs some help. He is flying out but doesn't have any equipment. He wants to know if anyone can help him with some smokers. Some WSM's or whatever. He is probably planning on cooking 2 beef briskets, 2 pork butts and 3 slabs of ribs.

If you can help please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Fred Weidner.

I don't have WSMs, but he can use my cooker if he can't get anything else. I'd love to see Scottie out here, and I could help, I'd be glad to.

Re: Grill on the Hill BBQ Championship
I've been exchanging Emails with Scott this afternoon. I offered my FEC100 and an EZ-Up but he is working with a local dealer right now. If that falls through he will have my cooker. Either way, it's great to see this event bring this caliber out.

Re: Grill on the Hill BBQ Championship
I'm up for it T.
Also, what do we have in the way of electricity for those of us using "mini stick" cookers? I will most likely use a battery/inverter but are quiet generators allowed. I will have a 1000w Honda inverter/generator.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Grill on the Hill BBQ Championship
Thanks for all the responses to help Scottie out. It appears he is on his way and will be using some of the equipment you kindly offered.

I will be in contact when I get more of the specifics other than the cookers, he has finalized that.

Re: Grill on the Hill BBQ Championship
Okay, not to sound like a total airhead, but do we supply our own meat at the cook-offs? Or do we pick it up at the competitions? Having never been to or cooked at one of the cook-offs I'm unclear on some of the rules etc involved with entering one. Any info and/or help would be appreciated.

You supply your own meat. Some comp supply meat but most you bring your own.

Three4Que,

Check out this link to the KCBS downloads http://kcbs.us/downloads.php , there is a document on the page called "Your First Cookoff". Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
