Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Brother T - Thanks for the kind words. I fired up the Orion for the first time since the FW&I 'way back' in August. True to its claims, I cooked a 20lb turkey in 2 hours and 15 minutes for our church's Thanksgiving feast. It was the perfect cross between deep fried and oven roasted. I brined it for about 15 hours and let 'er rip. I also smoked nine turkey legs over cherry and hickory. T'was a good day and I'll be doing the same this Thursday. Get to your Home Depot and getcha one if there are any left.

Here's to remembering and being ever so thankful for He who created all that we enjoy. I pray for nothing but the best for you, yours and all my UBBQA family.

God bless,
John

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Thanks everyone for the thoughts, and the same back at ya'... Anyone cooking on the smokers for T-day? We're going traditional this year so I did up three racks of baby backs today. It was a perfect day to be out smokin', sunny but cool with very little breeze at all. Ribs came out amazing, now if I could just do that every time...

Rockin' on two 22.5 WSM's, a GOSM gasser and missing them old drums...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
I would also like to give thanks to all we have in this great country and remind everyone to keep our men and women in uniform in our thoughts and prayers.
We will be deep frying a 7# prime rib. T and a friend were swearing by this method so we figured what the hey.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
It's Thanksgiving morning and the turkeys have been on the WSM's for several hours now -- I'm sure many of you are doing same thing. As I'm listening to the world wake up and the rooster crowing next door, I echo Slow Joes sentiments in remembering those who can't be with their families -- they are the ones that make the security I feel possible. I hope everyone has a GREAT day and to those who are traveling, please be safe!!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Cooked two turkeys yesterday ... one on the WSM and one the ol' traditional way. Smoked one won the people's votes hands down Smile I have a lot to be thankful for this year ... had all my children together for the first time in 8 years, had my wonderful friends and their families over for dinner, and I have all of my BBQ family.

Hope you all had a wonderful turkey day ... can't wait until May when we can all start hanging out together again!!!
