Re: 4th
Well what did everyone cook for the holiday??? I did a couple of butts and according to the neighborhood that I shared them with, I am a BBQ God... Like T says, when it's free the reviews are always glowing!!! I did some homemade sauces for the whole affair. One of them started with T's sweet, tart and tangy recipe from his website which I then tweeked a little to make it "right", came out excellent... The other was this recipe for a peach based sauce that was just ok, the folks that liked it, loved it. But the rest were just lukewarm on the whole thing, I think it was a bit sophisticated for most folks taste buds...

Rockin' on two 22.5 WSM's, a GOSM gasser and missing them old drums...

Re: 4th
I cooked probably one of the best butts I've ever cooked, a few ribs and some chicken. Rave reviews on all of it. Can't wait to try my rub and sauce out on another batch of judges in August.

Gotta love that WSM and that new hardwood charcoal ... put the butt on about 10 PM Tuesday night, temps held at 240 - 250 all night without a single adjustment. I love getting 8 hours of sleep while doing an overnight cook! 8)

Re: 4th
The drummer of my band did the cooking this 4th, as he got a brand new shiny BIG gas grill for Father's Day; he did two pork tenderloins with a butter-based injection, very tasty!
My weekend band (www.puddlestone.net) has had a 7-year tradition of getting together for the 4th for barbeque, grilling, beer, friendship and fireworks, but this will be our last one. Our bass player's wife is being transferred to Las Vegas in August, so we've got two more gigs and one more party, then a long partnership ends.

Sad So it was a bittersweet 4th. At least the 'cue was good.

The partnership may be ended, but you should give them the invite to next years bbq, so as to get to see them once a year at least.

Re: 4th
We Traegered 4 butts & went over to Hyrum and sold a mess of sammiches with slaw. There were more food vendors than one could shake a stick at, & 3 of 'em were selling Navajo tacos, burritos, etc.
Just wait 'til next year. Right P.B.?

We left the smoker cold and went to Stadium Of Fire where some fellow was getting $7.00 for pulled pork sandwiches (no side). I passed.

We didn't cook at the Dam. Hyrum City had a shindig in town so the Mrs. & I did a bunch of pulled pork sammiches with a vinegar mustard slaw. A tweek on Leonards' in Memphis. Got some folks taste buds going for pulled pork anyway.
