JDRF fund raiser Sept 18th
Legends Vintage Motorcycles is teaming up with JDRF Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. By holding an Open House with food, fun, giveaways, and a raffle with all proceeds going to JDRF. This event will be on the 18th of Sept.
Legends has asked if the Utah BBQ Association would like to help out by cooking pork butts and pork ribs, bbq beans and coleslaw. They are expecting around 300 people. The meat will be provided, we just need to cook it, show up and represent the Utah BBQ Association. Legends is located in Springville Utah. Let me know if you are interested in cooking. It should be a lot of fun. There will also be a ride on Sunday Sept 19th for the JDRF.

That sure was good stuff!

Re: JDRF fund raiser Sept 18th
Ok information getting to me has been slow, but here it is...
We need to cook 16 pork butts total for the event. I will have them to give out on Thursday. We also will be cooking chicken thighs and drumsticks. I don't have the exact amout of chicken yet. We will need to have it ready to serve Saturday Sept.18th by noon. Let me know if you still want to help out.

Happy to help out, being up here in SLC it would probably be easier to do some of the butts and transport them in a cooler, better that than chicken IMO.

Re: JDRF fund raiser Sept 18th
I am only two miles away. I would love to help out with any chicken or butts. I have two drums, a WSM, and an Ol' Hickory Pits UltraQ which could do 12 butts at once. Let me know how I can help. Call me any time at (801)734-0438 or email me at backcountrybbq@hotmail.com. I also have a vested interest having type 2 diabetes myself, I think this is a great fundraiser for a great cause.
Glad to help out,
Matt Big Grin

Yo, thanks to Dan and brother Cris of Tubby's Smokin Q, Soezzy, and Matt Pelton of Last Frontier BBQ for doing such a great job for a wonderful cause. The guys cooked enough pork butts to serve 400 or more people. Thanks again guys for your time and effort. Matt is here with me now and he is showing me the ropes on how to make a strawberry peach true cobbler, not a cake one , in a dutch oven. there is a huge difference ya'll. I will take pictures.

Sorry I missed this one guys. Woke up with a bit of back trouble today. Apparently I'm getting old and can longer ride Trafalga roller coasters, bumper boats, and go-karts with the kids without suffering the consequences. Did little more today then lie around flat.

Of course I did have the strength to try out a new smoked chicken recipe.

]Here are some pics from the event. It was a good time. Lots of bikers, Mick and Allen from KBER, and they mentioned the Utah BBQ Association A LOT when they were on the air. I don't have the final numbers yet but the 5 gallon bucket in our booth was filling up fast with donations for the JDRF!!!! Thanks to Chris from Tubby's, SOEZZY, Jonathan and Matt for cooking up some meat, and helping serve it up. People got a kick out of the fact that we compete against each other but come together as an association to lend our talents to help out charity events.[attachment=2][attachment=1][attachment=0]

That sure was good stuff!
