T - I assume that this event is still a 'go' for Aug 10 & 11, correct? I'm making my plans for travel and time off at work. Also, when and how will we sign-up?

Thanks,
John

Man this board is quiet these days. Is everyone just too stinkin' hot to cook??? I know I have been.

Re: Fire Water & Ice BBQ & Dutch Oven Challenge
Yo guy's, we are ready to rumble. We are finalizing the forms, but I can tell you this it will be a $100.00 entry fee this year and the latest to register will be on the six of August. You will cook the four usual meats chicken, ribs, pork, and beef. We are also going to provide a VIP tent to host the sponsors and to give them a chance to taste championship Q. Q4U will provide the side dishes and we will need some volunteer host and servers. We will be asking some to give up there extras maybe all? More information will be released as it comes, but for now we have to get the paper work done. Sorry for not posting, but trying to run a restaurant and organize and raise money is not an easy thing to do, but again it's all in the name of Q and making it happen in our great state of UTAH! The Dutch Oven portion of the competition I guess will not be taking place this year. I guess we took too long trying to get it together out side of the lack of communication on our end, sorry guys. We are also trying to rally all of the local teams old and new. With a good showing and a year under our belt to organize I think along with others this venue has a great future for BBQ in Utah. Again if you want to see pictures of the venue go to the beginning of the post there will be plenty for all to do young and old. On my way home Saturday night a mile or so from my restaurant posted on a fence on a busy street 54th south was a huge banner about the event, and I have been told that they are all over. Great huh? Will post soon, until then my brothers.

Earlier, several of you had mentioned generators. I have a coleman powermate I can bring up to be used and I believe that 2 PIGS has one as well. What is everyones need?

Re: Fire Water & Ice BBQ Challenge /WIFI
All,

I went with T today to check out the venue since I had never been there before -- VERY impressive. We also learned that there is WIFI available. I booted up my laptop and where some of the teams will be located the signal was very good with the speed around 12 MB. So now you can be at work and BBQ at the same time!!

Yo guys, we talked of having a pot luck at the site, well, I for one after cooking all night and morning, won't feel like cooking that Saturday evening. How does everyone feel about Friday night say around 7:30, we get together? Becci and I will do some shrimp gumbo. The pressure is on now "Brat".
Lets get some feed back on this, Mike, I know you and your daughter got the onion rings? Everyone out there have a super week!

Pressure??What pressure? 8)
I can do roasted corn on the weber kettle, I have one that I will bring, if one or two people have there's available that would be helpful.

Lets keep a head count on this pot luck, who's in & who's out  ( T, Becky, Dave, Dana) I believe Tyson will be carving a piggy that night?

I added this event information on message board on Fox 13 news. I did the same thing on KSL but it has not been posted yet. Hopefully it will help to get the word out, I will add info for the R&R as well.

The Sistahs will bring some salad and veggies for the potluck. I'm hoping Cajun shows up with more of those fried pickles!!!

Re: Fire Water & Ice BBQ & Dutch Oven Challenge
We need a final count on generators, PackerBacker had a great suggestion which is to place them between teams so everyone who wanted to could benefit and not have such long extension cords. They most likely won't be running all the time, but if someone needs power, it's there.

I have a Coleman Powermate 1800 that I will be bringing up and leaving for everyones use, I only need it to run my laptop and printer. I also have a UPS that I will toss in to filter the power as well.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Lyle
