Z - why can't April come up? Sad Work? Sad Work is a 4 letter word. Tell her she'll be missed. You are a pretty neat twosome.

Re: Spring Training!
Hi Gene,
Drove up and saw where the park is. Looks like a great place to Q. We will be in a tent. What area are we going to be camping in? Is there enough room for one big tent and one small one? Just triing to plan a head for a good space. Thanks for the chance to come and do Q.
My family came up with a name Smokin' Burton's Big Grin
Very Happy

Re: Spring Training!
Hey everyone,
I am awestruck by what just happened at lunch today. Dropped in to Holy Smoke BBQ & Grill in Layton for lunch and Jeff gave us a check for $75 to use however / where ever we need for this contest. So, if you will, when in the area drop by and thank him and have lunch.

Re: Spring Training!
I got to meet Jeff last Friday on my way back from LA, real nice guy. Great location, he wasn't too busy but I think that will change for him soon. Had a pulled pork sammie, the meat was great, and Jeff threw in a few "bones" for me to give a try, the meat was sweet and tender without being too "smokey". I'll be going back whenever I'm in Layton. Stop and introduce yourself if you get a chance. A big thanks to him for the donation, too!!!

I did ask, and like T, the guy has a business to run so is unable to come up and visit.
Now for the drama. Sad I have only recieved $ from two cooks. I'll need a bunch more to pay for the awards on Monday the 14th, so Please send your entry fee.

Re: Spring Training!
Big Grin Got 2 checks today in the mail and a local came to the door and is going to do brisket and ribs. And 1 more local team is coming also. I heard from a man that he'd heard part of the announcement on the radio about the contest. So we got some free air time. Woo Hoo. Thanks to everyone.

Hi Everyone,

Just went over to Reams in Layton. They had pinic shoulders on sale for $.99 a pound. They said it was an advertiised special. Just thought I would pass the info along.

See next week.

Re: Spring Training!
Gene, I sent off $$$ yesterday, for myself and Kevin Landry aka. "THE CRAZY CAJUN" How many do have that paid so far?

Were still short on judges, but my hope is that when I get home today I will have a BUTT load of replies, from those 15 judges that took the class in SLC last year.

Also tonight I will be doing 4 more Butts, to bring for sale, I will bring the sauce also. If someone local,ie SLC can bring the buns please PM me or Gene.

Have a great weekend everyone

Re: Spring Training!
Everyone. In response to P B's question I have recieved $ from 5 to play the whole deal and 1 that's doing brisket & ribs $30. So with Dave and his friend and me & Sampson cooking that adds up to 9 teams. I'll take more 'til Monday when I order the awards. Absolute drop dead day. I can't believe one of the Sistah's hasn't announced her intentions to play. Come on darlin' come and show all these guys how a womans touch can make the difference.
Also you are going to have plenty of Q left after your turn in to the judges. Dave & I think you should plan on selling yourselves and then if you'd be gracious and give 25% to the Habitat for Humanity pot. We won't hold your feet to the fire, so to speak, but to help you out and some more for the Habitat folks. Have a tip jar or however you want to do it.

Gene ... I just sent my check off today. There will definitely be feminine representation there and I'm bringing my daughter and granddaughter to help cook.

Quick question though ... how do we reserve the camping spots without getting charged? Do we need to contact the park directly?

Re: Spring Training!
I can stop by the Hostess store and grab some buns. How many do you think we may need. I will get 100 buns to start out with. If you think we need more let me know.

Sounds like we might have a great turn out to see if any of us can Q.

Hope this will help out.

See ya next week

Re: Spring Training!
BB! Thanks so much! Lets shoot for the moon on this samich sale! Would 150 be a problem?? Also, can someone else cover the bottled water for the samich sale, (150 also) and the some for the judges while they judge. 175 bottles should do it. I would bring it, but just that much more to pack and haul over

Let me know

Re: Spring Training!
Hey everyone, Hyrum State Park Ph.# is 435-245-6866, Lee is the Park manager and can make the decisions. Normal charge is $15 per night. He gave us more area to use during the event, enough to cook in and have room for judging too, I think. I can scare up the H2O if needed. One of the other contestants has a BIG link with Pepsi here so they're going to call me and maybe get us some more publicity. maybe the drink wagon too. I won't know 'til Monday though.
Just e-mail away and I'll do all I can to answer what questions you may have.
