Heartbreaker - call to arms?

This is the story of that little girl who was starved while her mother served in Iraq. I just can't get over this story, and then I saw this picture of her in the hospital on the KSL website. I can't stand it.

Folks, what I've done so far is sent an email to KSL news to see about getting contact info for the family, but what I'd like to do is treat this family to a full-on BBQ meal, prepared by the Utah BBQ Association.

Anyone with me? I'll certainly do it myself, but...

Anyone know this family, by chance?

Joe,
count me in to help. I just bought three 14 pound briskets from Wally World!! It wouldn't take long to thaw it out and toss it on the smoker. A suggestion perhaps, with the Pleasant Grove event just around the corner, suppose we find a way to drive or escort them down there, set up a VIP corner if you will and treat them to world class BBQ Utah style!!

Joe - I can't make it down to cook or help, so I just sent a donation via PayPal.

Wow, all that within an hour?! You folks are on it!

Still trying to get a way to get the invite to the family. I really like the idea of getting them on down to the PG Cook, but I don't think little Jade will be out of the hospital by then...

Joe - I might be able to rally some other folks to donate. Is the PayPal thing a good way to do that, or are those funds segregated? I didn't think to ask until afterward.

Thanks,
John

call to arms
Hey all, with the hunting seasons here we should go hunting and bring this person to the authorities. Don't feed and pamper him though.
How on earth could anyone do this to another human. I'll help in what ever capacity I can.

T - you have any friends in the WVC PD? Amanda Butterfield at KSL suggested I contact them to get in touch with the family.

Just a thought....
Awesome idea Joe.

Just a thought. The dinner's a great idea, but what the mother probably really needs is funds to pay for the hospital stay.

After you get hold of the family and they're cool with a BBQ, how about getting with your contact at KSL?

What if you get with KSL and have them put out the word of a BBQ at a park or something. Use it to raise funds to help pay for the hospital bills?

I don't know if that's even possible or feasible. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in. (that's usually all it's worth anyway)

There's been several comments like that, but I gotta' tell ya'...I REALLY do not have the time right now to try and plan, coordinate, and organize a fundraiser myself. Be glad to help anyone who wanted to step up for it, though.

I originally just started wanting to provide a meal, but info has come out that would show a need for a fundraiser. I just am not available to head that up right now...

Any takers?
