I found them at a lower price factorydirect2you $479.00 save $50.00.

They claim to be a winner but I was not able to find the competition they loosely refered to.

They must be more controlable than they look, or you won't get good results.

I actually found one at Sportmens Warehouse for 299.00. I like the looks of it, wondered if anyone has ever seen or used one before?

Saw it at the HPB tradeshow. Thought it looked interesting, but didn't see any way of controlling the fire other than the amount of fuel...

On the site I mentioned above they say there are vents on the top, and that you can pop the ash draw to increase airflow if needed.

It did not sound as effective as proper vents both bottom and top, and there is upwards of a 75° difference bottom to top with charcoal and 150° difference with wood, it also appears according to their posts, to run much hotter than you might want for low and slow bbq.

But it is really trying to do two jobs for the one foot print 2' x2' and so in a restricted space way you might want to get one anyway just to have a firepit, with the chance for the occasional cooking job.

We saw one used last year at the Idaho State Championship by a team who was sponsored by a Title company and they were also all employees. The head cook (Jim) was from Tennessee and knew a thing or two about BBQ. He only had the chance to use it 2-3 times prior to competition and always had a hard time keeping the temp consistent from the bottom rack to the top. There could be a 100-degree difference. But he did say that the Title Company wasn't aware of it yet, but after the competition it would be parked in his garage. So there must have been something he liked about it. As for us, it looked like a little too much work. Those guys did not compete this year in the competition, which sucked, cause they were really cool.
