Cookoff in Idaho Falls
Hey Gang- I have some good news, but short notice! I have been told that we are going to have a KCBS cookoff here at the Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls on Saturday, September 17th. It will be Ribs and Chicken only. GC = $1,000. Entry fee is $40. I have an application that I will try to attach along with some information. The organizer wants to make it a full blown deal next year and we have $5,000 already lined up.

RE: Cookoff in Idaho Falls
Can you ask if they can put a paypal or other online payment together?

That way out of State payers know that things got there on time.

I'm interested in the contest, either as Frankenswine & Ezzygore or as So Low Bar-Be-Que if Doug can't make it.

It doesn't say what size spaces are going to be, (just that teams need to keep inside their space), is there room for the RV and trailer or should I plan on going lite?

If we come up on Friday night can we get all set up and ready to go for Saturday? Can we camp out there, or sleep in the big yellow RV that Chris has?Big Grin

I'm interested, it's our wedding anniversary that weekend, nothing says I Love You more than cooking some Q!

RE: Cookoff in Idaho Falls
I called Rob today, as I knew he was away from his computer and may not see the questions about the comp. He said he didnt know of any space restrictions, and that setting up Friday would be ok, but there would be no over night camping Saturday... I would suggest calling the organizer (phone # listed on form) with any specific needs or questions....

Im happy to say I'm in for this comp, hope to meet some new folks and see some old friends that I havent seen in a while....

RE: Cookoff in Idaho Falls
Looking like this one may be doubtful for me, Doug's on call that weekend, and it looks like my family have plans to head to camp that weekend, that I'm trying to rearrange but it might not let the contest happen for So Low BBQ.

RE: Cookoff in Idaho Falls
This will be a KCBS "licensed" event this year, and go to a full 4 meat sanctioned event in the future. I will be headed that way Friday afternoon and will run the competition on Saturday. With such a low entry fee and a sizeable purse, it looks like a "natural" from here.
I am looking forward to seeing a lot of friends this coming weekend.

I haven't heard anything about that. Ping Pitmster and Packer-backer to see if there is anything planned. (I just hope there are sausages and corn dogs somewhere)

RE: Cookoff in Idaho Falls
Hey guys- I apologize for the delay in responding as I have been camping in Island Park. Thanks Dave for posting for me. I will organize a potluck on Friday night at 6pm. (Even though I won't be able to make it) There is an event going on during the weekend, so our space might be limited. We are hoping for 10 teams. I apologize, but the organizer has bitten off more than she can chew and it might not be as organized as I had hoped. Especially since it is our first comp. Please be patient if things aren't as organized as we are used to with the UTBBQA. I really haven't been involved in this since we had decided not to do it and then all of a sudden, we're doing a one day deal. I just hope it works out and we all have a great time. Feel free to call me if you need directions or anything else- 208-705-7763.
Rob
