Dutch oven Cinnamon rolls
I've been craving some cinnamon rolls lately so when I saw those beautiful cheese cakes I needed to get out the dutch oven. They sure hit the spot this morning. My niece helped me that's probably why they turned out so well.

Looks good Phred. What a great way to start the day. Tell your niece she did a good job as well.

Hey Grandpa Jon,

I'm all for German Chocolate Cake anyday! I just hope you'll share the recipe as well as the pictures. Your Key lime and cheesecakes looked great.

Here ya go Phred- this can be done either as a single layer or double layer cake... Kids got into it before I could get a photo or two- dadgum!! Angel

Sour Cream German Chocolate Cake: 

2 C ea Flour & sugar, sifted 1/4 C Shortening
1 C H20 3/4 C Sour cream
1 1/4 t Baking soda 1 t Salt
1/2 t Baking powder 1 t Vanilla
2 Eggs 1/3 C Cocoa, heaping

Blend together all ingredients until smooth (3-5 minutes). Spray the DO w/ Pam (I always cut a piece of parchment to fit the bottom of my DO before pouring in the batter) then bake at 350o until done.

Topping: Wisk together 1C dark brown sugar, ¼ t salt & 1 T Clear Jel until thoroughly combined. Melt 4 T unsalted butter then stir in ½ C half-half, 2 T light corn syrup and the sugar mixture and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and add 1 t vanilla with 1 ½ C each toasted sweet coconut & chopped pecans and serve warm. To ensure there is enough to spoon on each slice double this recipe.
