Father's Day Eve Smoke
When my wifey asked "what did I want for father's day"...I replied "I want to smoke some meat." So, a 14lb packer went on at 0430 this morning, 3 racks of ribs will follow around noon, and 15 chicken thighs will will hit the grid at 1530. The in-laws are the lucky guests . Dinner is at 1700.

I'll have some pic's a little later as soon as the rest of the household wakes up. In the meantime, I'm enjoying that early morning pre-sunrise golden moment that BBQ cooks know so well. Happy father's day-eve to me.

Hope some other fathers and fathers-to-be are doing the same.

Pigout,
Big Grin If I had my way, I'd invite all of the Utah BBQ dudes (and dude-ettes) over. However, in lieu of living in the dog house, I'll have to wait. I do plan to attend the Coalville potluck and will bring up some ribs if I make it. The comp cooks are always cooking for me during the contests. It's the least I can do to give back a little. Hopefully, you are doing the Coalville comp, yes?

I'm recovering from major ankle reconstruction, just went through the 2nd surgery in 7 monthsDodgy...but this time I'm recovering well and I seem to be getting back to normal.Smile Thought I might swing in on the Coalville comp and cheer on all my friends...Maybe I'll cook something myself and swing in to the potluck if that's ok?

@PigOut, I think that would be fine with everyone.

@all, here's the pics I promised. We had a change of plans (in-laws canceled) so we took some of the BBQ over to my son's in-laws for the grandson's first party. The brisket, ribs, and chicken all came out pretty well. However, I didn't like the apple wood that I used so will go back to Hickory next smoke. Enjoy the pic's.

I'm sure many of you are in the same boat...smoking your own "Fathers day meal". I'm doing a pork shoulder. Just trimmed and rubbed it. Early tomorrow, into the fire.

RE: Father's Day Eve Smoke
Cooking 2 pork butts for Family reunion this upcoming week. Went on at 3:45pm Saturday afternoon and doing wonderful. Temp is sitting at 250. This will be my best cook in a long time on the UDS I bought years ago from Sampson. My son helped make the rub and rubbed it into one of the butts. He's excited to see how they turned out.

No pictures yet.

RE: Father's Day Eve Smoke
It's 3:50 AM. Just put a 15 pounder (minus the 3 pounds of fat trimmed) in the FEC100. Pushed go for 12 hours at 225 and just waiting for smoke and it's back to bed. Some say this ain't real BBQing if you get sleep but my Lang is sitting next to the pellet pooper waiting for the rib/chicken cook in the PM side of Fathers day, so I still have time to get my man card punched.

Sorry, I only use REAL smokers that don't plug in or use computer! Tongue Except the one I had to use at the restaurant, but it was not nearly as good. It is now in storage!

Looks like the dishwasher from my mom's house. It was built in 1976. Minus the attachments and being outside.

That thing is NOT mine! LOL Ya know though, One team in the association has a smoker that I swear is an old still that was converted to a smoker! I will see if I can find a picture of it. I first seen it at the Huntsville comp last year. I thought is was way cool.
