RE: 1st Annual Coalville Pig-Out BBQ Competition Results
We had a great time, what a perfect place to host a comp. We we set up next to a horse pasture, my son Jake said one of them liked BBQ sauce. Several top teams made the trip out for this one which made it a lot of fun. 17th overall, 2 calls (3rd chix, 10th Brisket). We really learned a lot this cook, and honestly thought it was one of our best cooks ever in our very short career. Well you know how that thought we did good goes, we got a DFL in pork (our first and hopefully our last). Ribs seemed right to us, we did get 2 comment cards on ribs which you'd think would be helpful. One said their sample was over done, the other said it was under cooked? Well we can't wait to get back out there and do it again. Congrats to R&R, Tumbleweed, and H&D. Heres some pics. Thanks for looking.

It was great to be 60 mins from a comp, makes for a little R and R.

Meatman,
Excellent pic's. Agree, great place to hold a comp and from what I saw of the entertainment and vendors, they really went all out. As for the Que, it was really top notch. The competition was fierce. Congrats on the calls.

Shy well since i finally remembered to go i got the opportunity to go and experience the coalville cook. i felt like the only broncos fan there. but congrats to the couple of 27yrs that was awesome to hear your story. all of you hade some great tasters. i also go to see mo. the man is such an awesome individual. easy to talk to, easy to be around. ty mo. i have one question and that is i noticed most of the bbq had a sweet taste to the meats, i normally try to no cook with little or no salt or sugar. is this a bbq must for competition?

and the one sauce that grabbed me and caught my attention was a chipolte one. wow amazing flavor and so little sugar you barely taste it.
all in all i cant wait for the next one in heber..

RE: 1st Annual Coalville Pig-Out BBQ Competition Results
Hey all, Thanks for such a great comp! It's funny, we wanted to go to this so bad but could not due to a large catering job that we had booked. The guy over the catering job called me late Thursday night and asked if there was anyway they could get out of the catering job because they did not sell enough tickets. I said HECK YES! We got a hold of Tommy late Thursday and he said we could still sign up. We did not even get off of work until 6:00 pm Friday night. My wife and I hurried and threw what we could think of (forgot almost everything and try buying meat at 9:00 pm) into the trailer and left town at 9:00 pm. We arrived at the camp site at 11:00 pm. Everyone was so helpful in getting us loaded in and helping us out with the things we forgot. A special thanks to The Hippie Nation and the Jonny Rotisserie and the Auspiteers (Chris). You guys saved my bacon! By the way, Hope you all checked out Jonnys rotisserie stuff, these make some awesome BBQ! We were way behind all night and had to really push to get the meat done. A Special thanks goes to my wife LaRayne for building the great boxes for turn in. Here are a few pics LaRayne took.

Long time friends yes sir, real cats right there!
Congratulations to all that got a call. Soezzy said it all in his above post. It was great to see old friends and make new one's. The pot luck as always was great and a special thanks to those that made it happen. Thanks to the judges that took the time out of there day to help out BBQ. For a first time event Tom, Trever, the city, and part management, my sincere thanks for putting this on. Tom, I promise will do everything possible to keep this effort alive and moving forward. You have our support. Trever, thanks for being you bro, and nice job helping with the organizing and getting your calls. The city of Coalville was so receptive and appreciative. Great location, beautiful scenery, great bbq brothers, top notch facility, and ready to do another. Bring it on Tom! God Bless All, and be safe in your travels. Until we stand in smoke again " T "

Vince and Alexis are from the great state of Arizona and came up to not only to cool off a bit but to try for and get that GC and another chance to return to the Jack.

Congrats Rhythm & Q, R&R, Mike and all the others that not only got a call but stepped up and cooked at this Comp.

Just PM me and we can set up a time for you to come over and taste anything you want. We have been working with HD a little and he sure came on strong in the top 10 at this contest. Not sure if we are going to need to mentor him anymore if you know what i mean.

It was great being RGC behind R&Q by just ,0004. Those look like track field times! Vince and his wife sure have been good friends ever since we started cooking out of state. We go back and forth but this time they came out on top and we would have loved to been on stage again with them to get out RGC and then see them get the GC.
