3 meat or 4 meat
For those that are planning on competing in the Utah BBQ organization competitions.

Is running contests with 3 meats and swapping Ribs and Shoulder turn and turn about, a worthwhile move to help reduce the cost of going to a contest, or would folks prefer to cook all contests as 4 meat or 3 meats keeping the same meats all the time?

RE: 3 meat or 4 meat
My vote is for all 4 meats! I know cost can be a little crazy at times, what about figuring out a way to buy cases of meat before comps and splitting them up? Should lower cost, Just an idea?

I'm just thinking that doing all 4 meats will help us get better for the bigger competitions.

RE: 3 meat or 4 meat
I see your point Lorin that's why we were alternating ribs and shoulder in consecutive competitions, the turn in times remain the same, so the difference between two 3 meat contests and a 4 meat contest, is the 30 minute difference in turn in times, and the $30 / competition you didn't spend on meat! The 7 x $30.00 = $210.00, could almost be enough to go to 1 more contest in the year!

I'd be okay with doing 3 and 4 meat comps. We can switch back and forwards. We have to do 4 meats every now and then

Trever,
The way it was explained to me was that you need to cook Chicken, Pork and Beef to count towards the Jack Draw. =)

RE: 3 meat or 4 meat
That's correct Fidel, in fact the wording is poultry, pork and beef... so we could do geese or ducks, scrag end, (neck), of pork, and tritip, and as long as it fulfilled the other requirements, it could be a Jack Qualifier! Wink
