Cameras
This is a post for T, Gene, Sampson, John, Doug, and Chris (Frankenswine). What kind of camera do you guys use/recommend to take quality photos of Turn in Boxes, BBQ, competitions, yada yada yada? I'm looking to replace my el cheapo Kodak 5mp pocket camera and thought I'd check with you photogenic types.

I'll take input from the rest of you guys and gals as well that use digital cameras. My price range is $400

Re: Cameras
I hope you don't mind my answer....I am one that really hate the digital cameras....but it seems I have to come up to the 21st century......I am a Nikon Fan...and for your price range.....I would suggest the "Coolpix" line......there the L100 and the P90 that would fall in that price range.......I think they give quality pics and really easy to use....I started using coolpixs in 2004...That's my opinion.

Re: Cameras
I'm a Nikon man! All you need is one of the entry-level DSLRs (I use a D50) and a good 50mm lens, and some inexpensive lights. One site I highly recommend is DIYPhotograph.net.

If you are in the $400 range, get a Nikon D40 (check the reviews).

I hope this helps,
John

Re: Cameras
I use a little A400 Canon. I am pondering a larger Canon camera somewhere in the future. For now this A400 does great work.
It's the posting pics part where I have issues.

Respice, adspice, prospice. Latin proverb.
Respice = you didn't use enough spice the first time! adspice = you ought to add spice, you know? prospice = you should be an advocate for spice!

Re: Cameras
Arlie, I've used a D300 for a couple years now. Nice camera. 98% of the shooting is done with a AF-S 18-200mm 1.35-5.6 G ED lens and for low light a AF-S 50mm 1:1.4 G lens. It has the new wave motor that is so fast focusing. To bad our site is limited to low rez photos. Anything I shoot for here I use a Canon Power Shot SD1200 IS on small. Sweet little camera and Costco just droped the price from $200.00 to $130.00.
