Backyard BBQ Competition

Tumbleweed BBQ has just received approval from Tremonton City to host a Backyard BBQ Competition on July 24th.
This will be held in Tremonton City, just North of Brigham City.
We do not have a lot of details yet, as it was just approved.
There will be 2 meat categories, possibly chicken and ribs.
There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in each category and for Grand Champion and Reserve Grand.
We are working on getting sponsors for prizes.
We will charge an entry fee of $25 that will help pay for the trophies and prizes.
If enough teams sign up, we will add the extra cash to the pot for the winners.
This will be a great opportunity for you guys on the North end of the valley to try your hand at competing to get you ready for the Fire Water and Ice comp in August!
This is still in the infant stage and we will post more details as they become available.
Any of you "City Boys" want to take on the "Country Boys"?

This will be a great comp for all of you that have never been in one before. I am working hard to get some real cool prizes donated. Tremonton city days is a fun place for kids, with games and rides. They have a rockin car show going on at the same time and also tons of venders. Hope some of you out there well make it up.

Here is a peak at what the trophies will look like. They were ordered today and look very similar to these. The Grand and Reserve will be Gold Cups.

i have found out we have like 3 teams that want to do this comp. i heard we need lots more so please sign up so it will be a big comp and we can all have fun and enjoy bbq

I would love to join in, but dont think I will have the time. I am preparing to do a whole Hog pig roast on the 31st (above ground on a spit).

Ok, I have more information on this. I was asked by Big "O" Tires in Tremonton if I would help them put on a competition in their local town festival. We talked it over and decided to go ahead with it.

Also, this Backyard BBQ is not just for beginners. There are no garnishments in the boxes. Just meat and only meat. I feel that will even the score between the beginners and the more seasoned cooks.The Judges will be mostly local celebrities with no judging experience, so cook accordingly.

If this turns out well, they said we could put on a professional comp next year. Lets help support this guys! You all wanted more comps, here is your chance to make this a yearly thing and they are exited to have us.

Some of the fun stuff going on at the festival are:
Beginning on Friday with a Teen Dance. Saturday is full of fun events including but not limited to a Breakfast, 5K, Home Run Derby, All-Star Baseball games, Sand Volleyball tourney, Inflatable Rides, Magic Show, Baby Contest, Food Contests, Booths with Food, Car Show and a BBQ Contest.

I guess the entry form does not print too well (I am not a website guru) and is hard to use.
